Assistant Distiller

Full Time | Edmonton, Alberta

Strathcona Spirits is Edmonton’s first distillery. We produce fine, award-winning small-batch spirits using traditional methods in a tiny, sunny boomtown building in Old Strathcona. Our small team is developing an expanding line of fine spirits that embody the essence of Edmonton and its surrounding land by using locally grown grains, botanicals, and other ingredients. 

DUTIES

  • Professional brewery or distillery experience.

  • Formal training in brewing, distillation or food processing is preferred.

  • A genuine interest in small-batch distilling, botanicals, sourcing local ingredients and consistently producing only the highest quality products.

  • Understanding of distilling and brewing science and a working knowledge of the equipment and systems that go along with it with an emphasis on practical brewing/distilling techniques aimed at quality, consistency, and flavour.

  • Super-organized and tidy.

  • Self-motivated and great at problem-solving. Must be comfortable independently starting, managing and finishing projects.

  • Compliant with in-house and all national and industry safety regulations.

  • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds and be on your feet most of the time.

  • Drive and passion to continually cultivate your craft through experience, research, and education.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Maintaining and coordinating daily operations at the distillery.

  • Working as a team member to facilitate a streamlined, creative and functional atmosphere.

  • Milling, mashing, distilling.

  • Ensuring the distillery is squeaky clean, organized, and looking its best.

  • Maintaining inventory.

  • Interacting with the public, assisting with walk-in sales.

  • General maintenance around the distillery.

Sales Representative

Full Time | Edmonton, Alberta

Our small team is developing an expanding line of fine spirits that embody the essence of Edmonton and its surrounding land by using locally grown grains, botanicals, and other ingredients. 

 

DUTIES

  • Grow sales volume

  • Build strong relationships with our on-premise and retail customers

  • Manage sales activities, build customer relationships and engage in community events in and around Alberta 

  • Create brand awareness and community engagement 

  • Deliver orders to existing customers

  • Seek new opportunities to increase brand exposure and volume

  • Develop and maintain targeted sales plans on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis

  • Effectively lead industry and brand education sessions with customers and peers

  • Represent Strathcona Spirits at retail tastings, on-premise events, markets, special events, and as a whole, in the food and beverage community

  • Manage your own time including building effective weekly/monthly schedules

  • Maintain and accurately track monthly sales

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in sales

  • Knowledge & interest in craft spirits

  • Keen love for Alberta’s food and beverage community

  • Superb written and oral communications skills

  • Must be detail-oriented, specifically for events

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate

  • Strong time management and prioritization skills

  • Highly motivated to achieve goals and targets

  • Interest in curating drinks and mixing cocktails at various events and staff training

  • Experience working in or with the food and beverage industry

  • Proserve certificate

  • Must have a valid driver’s license
