General Manager

Strathcona Spirits is hiring a General Manager as we continue to grow our small distillery.

​

In this key leadership position, you’ll be responsible for continuing to drive improvement at a distillery in both sales and operations. You’ll liaise with every division in the distillery, including sales, production, marketing, and quality assurance. This role involves a mixture of office duties and hands-on tasks in production. No job is too big, no task is too small! This is a demanding role but it is also very rewarding and exciting.

 

Distillery Manager Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of daily operations.

  • Assist in the conception of products

  • Handle tax payments, licensing, and reporting to the CRA and AGLC

  • Liaising with ownership and preparing monthly reports

  • Create and manage budgets

  • Work with suppliers

  • Manage self-distribution sales, hiring and managing sales rep when necessary

  • Organizing and delegating the organization of events, tours, and tastings

  • Scheduling employees and training new hires

  • Manage the production team to ensure our spirits continue to maintain their high-quality standards while being as efficient as possible.

  • Supervise, research, and manage the production of new products.

  • Maintain and ensure all distillery equipment is used effectively, in top working order, and maintained correctly.

  • Monitor costs at the distillery

  • Be a key representative of the distillery; this includes in-person tours, media, tradeshows, and public-facing events.

  • Identify ways to improve the distillery

 

 

Work Experience

​​

  • A significant amount of experience working at a distillery or brewery, and supervising the distillation of spirits in a leadership role.

  • Significate amount of experience managing staff.

  • Experience with sales.

  • Experience with project management and supervision of budgets
